Sharon LeGree-Ferguson
First Lady

A virtuous woman. A woman of grace, style, beauty and strength. An elect lady. These are all terms that adequately and appropriately describe Sharon LeGree-Ferguson, First Lady of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. As the wife of Pastor Louis Ferguson, she has been an outstanding help meet for 28 years, presenting an awesome example of what being an authentic god-fearing woman is all about.

First Lady Ferguson is a native of Savannah, Georgia, arriving in Atlanta in 1978 in pursuit of a formal education. With her sights set on becoming a teacher, she spent 3 ½ years at Morris Brown College, and her selected course of study was Early Childhood Education. She reflects, "I knew from a child that I wanted to be a teacher. But as young people so often do, I later realized that this was not the field for me." To that end, First Lady Ferguson embarked upon a career as a paralegal. This has been her profession for the past 28 years.

Family is a major priority for First Lady Ferguson. She and Pastor Ferguson are the proud parents of two adult children, Sharaye (and Mark) Smith and Louis, Jr. They are also the glowing and doting grandparents of Sean and Madison Smith. During the time of their children's upbringing, First Lady Ferguson played the very integral role of being team mom for their children's sports activities with the Central DeKalb Cardinals, now known as the Central DeKalb Jaguars. Her exemplary leadership gained her the further responsibilities of being given charge of the entire park (DeKalb County's Wade Walker Park.)

In addition to managing her career, supporting her family and serving as the church's First Lady, Sis. Ferguson is also quite involved in activities that exemplify her commitment to the body of Christ as a First Lady. Specifically, she serves as Vice President of the Atlanta Chapter of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widow Association. Prior to Pastor Ferguson being called to Greater Friendship, Sis. Ferguson was a dedicated member of Greater Bethany Baptist Church (under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Curtis L. Lester), wherein she served as a faithful member of the Ministers' Wives Auxiliary as well as the Young Women's Usher Board. First Lady Ferguson's other interests include staying abreast of health and fitness issues. To that end, she is a Certified Fitness Instructor, who has also walked away as the first place winner of a fitness competition.

Fully arrayed with a heart of kindness, compassion, generosity as well as a listening ear, First Lady Sharon LeGree-Ferguson is a blessing to all who come within her presence. Her favorite scripture is John 3:16.
